Hand crafted in Nicholasville, Kentucky USA (Kentucky Proud Member). We assemble all our boring bee traps with 3/4 inch untreated pine lumber, then nail and glue. You can hang our new and improved model or wall mount with included hanging chain and nail. Also includes a Ball® Brand catch jar and 10 cork plugs (used to plug any existing bee holes in your home, barn, deck, etc.).

Simply hang or mount the trap in areas of high carpenter bee activity. In addition, we recommend you plug any existing holes these wood boring bees may have made. First spray their nests with WD40, then insert the corks we provide with our trap. When they find their nesting hole is plugged, they will seek out our Wood Bee Gone II Carpenter Bee Traps for a nest and be caught.

For hornets, wasps and yellow jackets: Just add one inch of soda (yellow is best) and five drops of dish soap to attract and kill naturally!

Does not harm honey bees and helps stop destruction of homes, barns, decks and the like.

Classic Carpenter Bee Trap, Thompson’s® WaterSeal® Addon

What is a carpenter bee?
Not be confused with the bumblebee or honeybee, a carpenter bee lacks the hairy abdomen with black and yellow hairs of the bumblebee. But rather has a shiny black abdomen. In addition, carpenter bees are not a social insect like the bumblebee.

Male carpenter bees do not sting, but can be very aggressive when protecting their nest. Sudden movements by a person near their nest may aggravate and cause them to hover next to you. Female carpenter bees are capable of stinging but do not do so very often and only when provoked.

The nests of the carpenter bee are excavated into wood and designed to shelter and rear their young. Carpenter bees do not eat wood. They are simply creating tunnels for the purposes of raising broods. Typical items these wood-boring bees can tunnel into are houses, barns, decks, wooden outdoor furniture, telephone poles and the like. They prefer wood that is two inches thick or greater and will come back year after year to hatch and rear young.

Male and female carpenter bees will hibernate in their tunnels during the winter and when spring-time comes around they will mate, clean up their existing tunnels, enlarge them and begin a new season of rearing.

Controlling carpenter bees:
What can be done to control the carpenter bees flying around your house? The most natural, cost effective and pesticide free way to control your carpenter bee problem is by using carpenter bee traps. While you can build your own carpenter bee trap, why bother with the expense of purchasing wood, nails and a catch jar, not to mention spending your valuable time cutting, drilling and hammering, when there is a ready-made solution at hand. Let Chrisman Mill Farms’ Wood Bee Gone II Carpenter Bee Traps be the solution to your carpenter bee problem.

I rarely write reviews. But in this case it was absolutely necessary. I battled carpenter bees for weeks. Believe it or not they are so aggressive I killed around 30 of them with a fly swatter. I have a 4 yr old, so everytime we would go outside they would be buzzing around him. I bought some of the spray and wood putty as well. After eventually locating the nest, I used the spray to flush them out(the spray also worked fantastic). I hung the trap as instructed(definitely make sure you mount it so it doesn’t sway with the wind). I also put 3 of the dead ones I killed in the trap. Wishing a day or 2 there were 3 more in the trap. After 5 days there were 10. I highly recommend this to anyone with a Carpenter Bee problem.

This Carpenter Bee trap is amazing! We ordered two of them, within a 24 hour period we had so many customers:) Seriously, we’ve trapped so many of them, it is fascinating to observe ( see picture below). Do not hesitate to purchase these traps, the service was fast and the traps are very well made. A Home Inspector in our area, actually mentioned the Chrisman product by name in his column. Thanks Chrisman Mill Farms for an excellent product!

We caught so many carpenter bees this summer with this product! And a few wasps!

We’ve got a carpenter bee problem and they have been tearing up our nice stained wood covered deck. Aside from the holes they drill they also leave a lot of sawdust everywhere. In the past I hadn’t been able to find an effective product to deal with them and laughingly resorted to using a tennis racket to whack em. This was semi effective in controlling the bees and very effective in throwing out my 47 year old shoulder while my wife laughed at me. When I came across this product I ordered it just to see what would happen, When it arrived I read the instructions and called the manufacturer for clarification. I did not have a problem with wasps, etc. and was wondering if I needed to put the soda and dish detergent in the jar. They were very glad to answer my questions and if you only want to control carpenter bees there is no need to add anything to the jar. They said they will fly into the jar and will be unable to fly out. I was skeptical. They tell you to fill any places on your wood already bored into by the wood bees. I plan to do that but the wood bee trap arrived before my wood putty so I went ahead and hung the trap on my deck. Without filling in the holes already bored on my deck my trap has caught approx. 15 wood bees in 1 and a half days. Very effective. Once I fill the holes on my deck I’m sure the trap rate will increase. Very satisfied with this product. Also, mine did have the glass jar and the whole trap looks nice enough that I didn’t feel the need to hide it. It looks like a nice, small birdhouse.

I just received my traps a few days after ordering. They are much larger than I expected and very nicely made. Several of my coworkers want to order them as well. This product is great quality at a reasonable price. Don’t hesitate buying it.

My log home sustained much damage last year from carpenter bees, in spite of consistent service by a nationwide exterminator service. Never had so much damage in previous years. I bought 2 of these traps. I put them out at the 1st sighting of the bees just a few days ago. Have caught 5 so far. I have never seen anything like it. Am ordering more traps! They just plain work! Also an incentive for me was that it is a Veteran owned business!

My carpenter bees were swarming around the porch/deck and scaring my great-nephew so much he was afraid to walk up on the wood porch. I skeptically bought one of the traps from a local retailer. Two days later, I was back buying 2 more, one for me and one for a family member with the same problem. The first one had about 10 bees in it the second day. I put the second one up yesterday and it already has several bees in it. AWESOME! When I find the actual holes in the porch, I’ll fill them in, but so far, the traps are taking care of the problem.

I purchases several of these as they had high ratings. No dsappointment here!!!! I’ve had them out for 3 days and have trapped more than 10 carpenter bees! I’ve fought with these bees for more than 10 years and after destroying a wooden fence decided to give them a go. Fantastic investment!! Couldn’t be happier with my purchase!
